BANGKOK – Award-winning boutique media agency Delivering Asia
Communications and unrivalled travel journalism leader Conde Nast
Traveller United Kingdom CNTUK have bucked an advertising spend
decline in Thailand by producing the first ever dedicated travel
section to the country in the magazine’s historic October issue.
Working closely with the revitalised Tourism Authority Of Thailand
(TAT) - under the leadership of new Governor Phornsiri Manoharn -
Delivering Asia Communications secured seven leading private sector
partners for the 11-page Thailand Special Section which will appear
in CNTUK’s landmark 10th anniversary October issue.
Joining the TAT (three pages) in the Special Section are Starwood
Hotels & Resorts (two pages) with one page each to Banyan Tree, the
Dusit Group, The Landmark, The Peninsula, Renaissance Koh Samui and
The Sukhothai hotels.
A special 12-page reprint of the Special Section is also being made
available for global distribution by participating organisations.
Thailand produced just five pages of advertising in CNTUK in 2006.
With Thailand ad spend falling in the first half of 2007, according
to a recent Nielsen Media Research survey, 11 pages was a
significant achievement for the Thailand travel industry, Delivering
Asia Communications Director Mark Armsden said.
“Obviously the forward thinking Tourism Authority Of Thailand can
appreciate the massive benefits of creating awareness for their
product in such a prestigious publication,” he added.
“The Nielsen Media Research document said magazine ad spend had
decreased 3.55 per cent from January to June but the Thailand travel
industry managed an increase of more than 100% in just one
publication.”
London-based publisher of CNTUK, Kate Slesinger, said Thailand
remained one of CNTUK reader’s hottest destinations for independent
luxury travel and it was a most prudent move by participating
advertisers to target the magazine’s high-spending tourists.
“Our readership demographic definitely shows we are reaching high
yielding travellers who love the Far East and tropical destinations
in particular,” Ms Slesinger said.
“It has been a superb achievement for us to team up with the
Thailand travel industry to launch this special section in our 10th
anniversary issue. We now plan to do this every year in our August
issue.”
The October issue of CNTUK will be available worldwide from
September 10.
